September's Newsletter

A crucial month for any school year, September has been very fruitful at EFI Bucarest. While it allowed us to set the stage for a smooth year ahead, it was also the time to launch new educational projects for the months to come.

The kick-off !

At the start of the school year on September the 1st, His Excellency Ambassador Nicolas Warnery was with us to kick off the year in style, with a speech wishing our students a good start and a year full of success. Some of our alumni were also present to receive their Cambridge certification, attesting to their level of English for entry into secondary school.

"Les évaluations nationales"

In September, each student took assessments approved by the French Ministry of Education in order to assess their level and provide personalised support for everyone in learning and understanding French. One of EFI Bucharest's greatest strengths is its commitment to integrating every student, regardless of their level of French, particularly through the Passerelle programme.

A brief multilinguistic interlude

For European Language Day, our new civic service volunteers organised reading workshops. On a voluntary basis, each student brought in their favourite book in the language of their choice and had the opportunity to talk about it and present it to their class. EFI students come from a wide range of countries, so the sounds of Spanish, Arabic, Romanian and Italian were enough to spark the students' enthusiasm during this time of sharing.

Poetry in the air...

Highlighting the trilingualism that enriches EFI also means highlighting the literature of each language. In a spirit of democracy, each student voted for a Romanian poem and a French poem from a selection chosen by the teaching staff and written by authors who symbolise the Franco-Romanian connection. The winning poems now adorn the stairs in the atrium.

Artists in the making

In CE2, pupils were able to develop their artistic sensibilities during a sculpture workshop. Art history lessons are always accompanied by an activity that embodies the movement being studied: inspired by Camille Claudel's ‘La Petite Chatelaine’, CE2 pupils were able to create their own expressionist sculptures.
